Brief Rundown:
An old katana tsukumogami summoned into a human body, Norimune represent the sword made by the first Kiku-Ichimonji blacksmith, Ichimonji Norimune, and inherited his name. He's a self-proclaimed retired old man, and the former ~~totally not yakuza~~ family head of the Ichimonji swords. Not only that, but he's one of the government swords before his reassignment. But honestly, he really prefer to take it easy and enjoy his retirement, but he's summoned to fight in a war to protect history.

Despite being a "shitty old man" (or any variation of that), Norimune have personal issues due to the some guy's popular fanfiction writing him as "Okita Souji's sword". Sure, it's not historically accurate, but the persistent idea of it hang heavy over his head. He's getting a little better with it, but he's not over it completely yet.

Otherwise, he's a jolly old man who loves to watch over youngsters and dump his chores on them.

Initial Ideas:
I'm taking it easier this month to ease up from June, plus RL might get more demanding (winter school holidays is here). So I won't put up a substory log, but I'm open for close starters on his catch-all log if people want to meet him (especially new CR) and/or follow-up on things. I'll also tag out into other posts/logs whenever I can.

CR Desires:
Norimune is an Inspector (with two shiny ⭐⭐) in the Department of the Enma, working on the police side of things. So he can be your Enma cop ~~senpai~~ senior (don't worry, he somehow do the work! well, the paperwork get done even if he never seem to take it seriously if people look at him. and give Actually Good Insights!), or work with him if your Enma folk is in another department (hi lawyers). Enma people will get his full name during introductions.

Outside of Enma, Norimune would love to meet more young people to watch over (and rope into doing work for him), fellow adults/older people to chat and drink with, as well as fighters to spar with. Despite his attitude, Norimune can be a capable opponent to fight against since he regained his strength. Regardless of who, he can be your awful enabler in most things. Non-Enmas will just get "Norimune" from him unless otherwise.

Brief Rundown: Levi (they/them) is the former heir to the biggest energy company in their home of New Gate City. They grew up living the pampered life and learning how to function in high society with the intent that they would inherit the company and all its subsidiaries as soon as their parents decided to pack it in. Unfortunately, a mutation manifested in their body in their teenage years, something that generated excess electricity within their heart and made them capable of channeling lightning through their hands, and—well, the Central Ward just doesn't have mutants, don't you see? So basically a lot of stuff happened and they ended up getting stripped of their inheritance and thrown out at 18. (Their parents even faked their death, it's very cool and chill.) And they've been working kind of as a professional philanthropist for most of the past decade, serving as one of the longer-standing members of the Neo Sapien Organization where they're receiving housing, education, and employment in return for their services. They provide free power to the underprivileged whenever they can, because their parents suck and Carassia Energy can burn, and otherwise they're just trying to get by. (also they're a gamer check out their gamertag Levirage for some sick Apex wins brah)

Initial Ideas: well, based on their TDM thread, i think a lot of levi's current motivation is "fuck the enma, here's 95 reasons why". but they're also looking for little things that make Hell feel more like home, things like the neon and steel and concrete and the cute little convenience stores and stuff like that. they also are definitely going to need some help with their heart, and i hear we have a clinic for that? wild if true. otherwise i'm mostly gonna be checking out what sutoku's gonna have them doing, because if i'm honest i was not expecting them to end up in tengu town.

Brief Rundown:

An alternate retelling of a famous mythological figure from an even more famous ancient Chinese story, Sha Gojyo is a half-youkai half-human delinquent with a loud mouth, obnoxious attitude, and flirty demeanor that often mask his more authentic intentions. The world he grew up in was a hell hole and only worsened as he got older. Being a half-breed, he is considered a "taboo" child in his world and was often ostracised from society while also being shown the worst aspects of it all. His back story sucks and is filled to the brim with trauma and pain. But he takes it well and constantly strives to keep an optimistic edge on everything. The type who thinks there's no point getting hung up on the tough stuff when you should be enjoying the good things life offers you when you have it. He is sociable, and a bit obnoxious but is also a fun-loving and well-meaning man who inadvertently built up a horrible reputation and even more atrocious body count due to the people he finds himself hanging around.

Being a CRAU he comes from Slumscape and is thus also possessed by an amabie. A water-based luck youkai. She is often shy and quiet, especially around humans but will occasionally make herself known if the setting is right. Her presence has caused some physical changes to his body, such as scattered scales along his skin, some floppy fin ears, webbing between his fingers and toes, and gills to be able to breathe underwater!

Just one and a half youkai in a mostly human-looking meat suit, nothing to see here~

Initial Ideas: Speaking of- I wish to spend a little more time concentrating on getting Gojyo's Amabie, Unabara, more of a voice this month. So I plan on making at least one of my monthly event posts focused on her while she takes possession of Gojyo.

Otherwise, Gojyo himself is recovering from last month's event. It didn't have too strong of an effect on him, but it left him somewhat paranoid and made it so that he ended up ostracizing himself from many people. He has gotten some help from Emily to ease his worries, but he may have inadvertently made a secret hide-away in the waters of the underground ocean resort in the meantime. He's probably going to be spending a lot of this month acting like none of that happened and blowing off any of the heavy stuff for some easy ways to have fun and forget it all.

CR Desires: Man, I want to get Gojyo past his initial party-boy shell and get him to open up to people more. He's been chiefly having the time of his life in Jigoku-Cho as the previous two worlds he lived in felt far more like Hell than this place has. So more deep, substantial CR with slow-burn characters learning to open up to each other is my jam.

That said, Gojyo always looks for someone to go out with and have fun. One-night stands, friends with benefits, fight buddies, drinking buddies, ~~shipping~~, etc. He is always open to finding people who want to go out and have fun. If you're looking for a good friend who is a lousy example, or perhaps a reliable and well-meaning brother figure, Gojyo is your guy.

Anything else: Saiyuki is a serious with many adult-oriented situations and topics brought up. Gojyo himself has a backstory that deals with many traumatic situations and very intense topics that are most certainly not suited for everyone. long-slain infamous demon from the heian era, shuten is a hedonistic oni who once terrorized the ancient capital of kyoto with her oni gang, known for kidnapping young girls, eating them and getting beheaded for it. she's a menace who loves to drink, party, fight and indulge in beautiful girls and handsome men. that said, she's also mysterious and elegant, and maybe she secretly kind of wants to be closer to humans even if she jokes about eating them all the time? :) it's complicated.

Brief Rundown: He's old, retired, and tired. Zhongli is one of the original 7 gods of his world who fought in a bloody war known as the Archon War to get himself a piece of land to oversee and govern. He goes by many names such as Morax, the Lord of Geo, The Prime Adepti, Exuvia and of course Zhongli. He's strong and knowledgeable as hell but he's also a dumbass because he doesn't know how human or how money works, even if he created the money in his world?? He's an idiot so please bully him all you like.

Initial Ideas: Having Zhongli get used to not having his full range of powers is going to be great and I can't wait to delve into that more! But I'd like to get him situated first and foremost. I would love to have CR with people who have immortal characters, dragon people, and just inhuman CR in general. But I would also like to have some hyperactive people take him around town and get into shenanigans with!

I'm an animator in Canada, and I'm into a whole bunch of stuff like comics, anime, musicals, watercolour painting, cartoons, and lately, burying my head in Stardew Valley. Brief Rundown: Power is a Blood Fiend (basically a demon with blood-powers inhabiting a human body), and just an absolute gremlin. She is brash, egotistical, childish, has like two brain cells (one of which is permanently on loan to her best friend Denji!), and is a terrible liar to boot - she will eat the last piece of birthday cake in the fridge, and then blatantly deny it while her face is covered in crumbs and icing. Power claims to hate humanity as a whole - don't take it personally, it's a Fiend thing - and will go on at length about how pitiful humans are while detailing her unhinged plans to subjugate humanity, which usually have something to do with becoming the president and then implementing a 100% sales tax. No, she doesn't understand how politics or taxes work, nor does she care. Power's gonna Power.

Power is slowly getting better, and is at least willing to admit that some humans are okay - she'll even go out of her way to defend the ones she likes, even if she does try to chew on them and suck their blood from time to time - but she's still learning How To Person, and How to Friendship. Basically, picture Power as a half-feral cat with devil horns, and you're most of the way there!

Initial Ideas: I'm just planning to ease her in, at first - I'ma get back to my TDM tags this weekend. Power has already decided that Jigoku-Cho is 'Fake Hell' (she's been to her own hell in canon, it's much scarier than this!), and will not be shy about her opinion! I'd also like to throw her at Substory #1, because she tends to drape over people like a cat anyway, and would have no reservations about doing that to warm herself up. Maybe Substory #4 with the Haniwa, too? IDK!

Brief Rundown:
NatsuYuu is a slice of life about a boy living in rural Japan who inherits the ability to see youkai (called Sight in-canon) from his grandmother along with the book of spirits' names that she made while alive (the titular 'Book of Friends'). But it's ACTUALLY about interpersonal relationships and forming connections with others, so the series is heavy on the idea of 'how do people operate/interact with each other when they see a world others can't see' and also conflicting worldviews in general, and it's very bittersweet and soft despite Matoba often being the source of the... unsoftness. He's not quite a 'villain' (not in small part because the manga does a great job of making everyone sympathetic and human! everyone read Natsume), but his views are definitely at odds with the main character's.

Matoba is the current head of the largest exorcist family in his series, a massive body including dozens of clans that basically operates like a yakuza organization, and with a reputation for being liars and bullies. He's inherited a curse that massively boosts the clan's spiritual powers in exchange for him being at constant risk of death and maiming (because his ancestor broke a contract with an ayakashi, tsk), and his whole ~emotional connections~ schtick is that the safety and continuation of his enormous clan rests solely on him not screwing up and getting his eye stolen... leading to much emotional distancing. Conceal Don't Feel is the exorcist way!

There is a SPECIAL PERMISSIONS POST for interacting with the ayakashi after the Matoba’s right eye! Please read this if you think you might want longterm CR with Matoba! This is an ongoing monthly minor player plot centered around the attacks that Matoba suffers thanks to his inherited curse. I’ll handle it a different way each month depending on how the game plot as a whole is going, but the important thing to know is that player characters can become possessed by the curse as a vehicle to attack him, so consider filling out the permissions there if you’re interested in that!

Lastly, FAQ because it comes up in his tags all the time, youkai are also called 'ayakashi' in his canon which is used as more of an all-inclusive term for youkai, kami, and other types of spirits. In-game he more or less considers anyone who isn't human to be an ayakashi, and will be at least a little abrasive about it.

Initial Ideas:

This is going to be a pretty chill month for Matoba! He was promoted to 3☆ Lieutenant within Sutoku at the end of the event, and he should be getting some more magic regains soon ~~when I can decide what I want~~ so he will spend the month schmoozing, playing politics, learning who is new and useful and onboarding new Sutoku arrivals that catch his eye!

After all the excitement of plot the last couple months I'm looking forward to just having him meet new folks and pass around info, consolidate information, get laid, and actually.. unclench.. a little? Haha just kidding, he will never unclench. As far as substories I will just be doing a lot of tagging out as I see stuff, but he will likely be collecting some of that sweet, sparkly stardust.

I do plan to RNG roll for a player possession for the aforementioned eye curse attack this month; I will weight this roll towards existing CR but either way if you haven't yet opted into his permissions and you are interested in this, please do! I'll probably handle that sometime next week.

CR Desires:

Spellcasters/Possessed/Exorcist adjacent everyones: Networking with other humans with Sight or who are adjacent to dealing with spirits is one of his priorities and if he senses you he will stalk you until he can make your acquaintance. This is normal behavior.

Youkai/Spirits/Demons: Matoba can’t actually immediately tell from aura alone if someone is human or not but he’s old hat enough at this that he can usually tell..... If you aren’t human, this is fair warning that he will be blatantly nasty because he hates non-humans, but if he thinks you are useful and powerful he’ll schmooze and learn everything about you that he can. He is a passive aggressive king.

Politics-types, info-hoarders and other shady assholes: Hello, he knows there’s more of you out there. He would love to make your acquaintance. You’re all such wonderful and interesting people to know.

Brief Rundown: Spoilers for his canon below because this guy is a walking spoiler. And this is even the most spoiler-free description I could come up with.

Saito is, to put it bluntly, a high-functioning psychopath with an addiction to murder. He was born with a dysfunction that prevents his brain from properly secreting the hormone oxytocin, an important hormone that possesses a stress relieving effect and promotes social behavior. In plainer words, he can't experience the emotion commonly known as "love". This alone wouldn't be a huge problem if his faulty brain didn't also reward him with huge amounts of dopamine and endorphin whenever he takes a life, especially human lives. Making the act of killing the only way he can feel pleasure.

That's not to say he's going to strangle the first person he sees on the streets. He can pretend like he's a remotely normal person, and usually has just enough self-control to adapt and play roles when necessary. Though if it seems he can get away with his actions, things can get really messy. As in... bloody messy.

Initial Ideas:
Still getting the feel of the game so no concrete ideas yet. But I'm looking to do some tagging into the Ember and Tanabata substories.

CR Desires:
Saito's inability to feel love in the sense most people do and, on a lesser degree, his psychological dependence on murder both impose some tricky restrictions on relationships that require even the lowest level of intimacy. On one hand, as far as his addiction goes, the Department of the Enma will be making him do some of the dirtier work for them. That will most likely keep him satisfied and less likely to risk getting himself in trouble. On the other hand, his chemical imbalance might not have an easy fix, but I want to tackle the challenge and explore the more human side to him whenever possible, without crossing the boundary into OOC-ness.

With that said, most of his CR will probably be neutral or negative, but I'm all down for attempts at positive CR, slow-burn or otherwise! Relationships based on mutual gain or interests/goals will likely be a lot easier and quicker to build. Maybe if anyone in Enma shares his passion for the edgier stuff like killing, torture or the like, they could become murder buddies ~~I'm sorry, this is a terrible idea but it's one I'd kill for (pun intended)~~.

Cares a lot about justice and is overall a nice guy but has a very 0 to 100 kind of intensity and WILL pick fights with people whether or not it is actually a good idea. He's going to have a GREAT time in Shuten.

Initial Ideas: Kazuma is going to have his hands full just trying to navigate this place while not remembering anything about himself, so I am very much in a let's-see-what-sticks kind of mode for the first bit. He'll probably at least be temporarily staying with Mikotoba to start but for Various Reasons it is uncertain how long that will last, especially if he ends up getting pretty involved with Shuten business (which is a path I'm very interested in exploring). Would love for him to get a steady job to start with! He was apparently able to pick up sailing pretty quickly, so...

CR Desires: Obligatory any, but in particular... the main reason I took Kazuma from the canon point that I did is because I want to see if I can push him a little farther into ~~edgelord status~~ indulging his violent side rather than just skirting it like he does in canon, so any CR that is able to help facilitate that development would be THE BEST. Anyway: he's mouthy and doesn't know when to quit, but he's loyal to a potentially worrying degree if you can swing it. - Travis Meets His Faction, Which is Shuten, which is a no-brainer. I'm still getting a feel for what factions are like in practice and the internal dynamics, but it is very Travis-core to come in fired up/sometimes needlessly aggressive and then chill out when he realizes oh, it's cool.
- Do we keep TDMs here? Does that make sense even if Travis wasn't in that faction?

CR Desires: I am generally down to try anything, and am more than happy to work Travis' angles to get him in on whatever seems fun, interesting, promising, or otherwise. Napping has become my main hobby because I am always exhausted after working in a chaotic place with chaotic people and living a mile away from the sun doesn't help. I am melting. Brief Rundown:
The second son of The Feiyun Commerce Guild's Manager, Xingqiu is known for being polite, mild-mannered, and studious. Traits that are admired by many, but unbeknownst to most residents of Liyue Harbor he has a more mischievous side to him. An avid reader, he is a collector of rare and out-of-print books, his favored genre being martial arts novels (which he even hallowed out textbooks in order to continue reading while in class.) His constant visits to the local bookstore drove his father to enroll him to take martial arts classes (from a clan on the decline) as a manner to distract him but the eccentric Xingqiu with his own ideals formed through years of reading was discovered to be quite talented. With his vision, and sword skill he seeks to continue to fight for justice.

Basically, he is just a talented rich boy who can easily master most skills... but really he would be quite content living a much simpler life. Also, he authored his own book, when no one in Liyue would publish it, he took it upon himself to do so... it was unsuccessful in his homeland but in other nations..,

Currently, in Jigoku!!! He is living in a hobo studio flat despite obtaining a rank up because he sees no reason to move, he is a mess, a disaster, he is busy trying to absorb as many books as he can there is no time to clean which is unfortunate for his roommate Hu Tao (if she continues to tolerate living with him that is). He hops from job to job but soon he is going to settle into either maid cafe/cosplay izakaya as he tries to land a full-time editor job for the newspaper. Other than that he is progressing his friendship with Hu Tao and marrying Chongyun next month. That last part is a lie I just made up. They're just kissing where no one can see them.

Brief Rundown: Cheerful dumbass and leader of a band of teenagers who fight Shadows with the power of their inner selves that totally aren't SMT's equivalent to Stands. She also listens to basically everyone in town's troubles and takes it upon herself to help them get over whatever issues they have going.

Minako has had to deal with a lot, including losing her parents at a young age and, you know, trying to prevent the world from ending. Someone's gotta do it, right?

Initial Ideas: Minako is basically in the perfect faction, so I think initially I'm going to look into tossing her at a substory or two and see where she ends up landing.

CR Desires: All of the above? Friends and frenemies are both welcome, as well as those she can imprint herself on. Having a hard time with things? Watch her swoop in and never leave. She's got social links to grind.

Long-term goals: Found family. Giving her a tight-knit group would do her some good, since she was pulled from a point where no one remembers what they all went through together over the past year except for her. Also, the last time she had anything like a parental figure was when she was 10, so I would love to have someone look out for her. She grew up in poverty and made it to that position through hard work and a talent for business and finance. Through her experience, she's learnt that power is and should be used for more than just money, and dislikes ostentatious and frivolous displays of wealth. She understands power, value and worth, and is very good at dealing with people and information, to the point where she's usually a few steps ahead of any games currently on the board.

She also threw her big fancy house at a god once and then just rebuilt it, NBD.

Initial Ideas: Mostly she's going to be scoping out the lay of the land in all directions. Learning how the factions work, how stuff hangs together in the city, what the political landscape is like, what the people are like, etc. Information gathering as much as possible and educating herself.

Brief Rundown: Julieta is a giant robot pilot from a futuristic world. She spent most of her life on a space colony and fighting for the military so she's adjusting to civilian life. She's already busted down a few doors on Enma orders and will do it again. Recently she acquired the ability to manipulate metal so it could be fun to do something with that.

Initial Ideas: Trying to do her job but getting into shenanigans, hooking up with troublemakers, wtf are "feelings", fight?

CR Desires: Help her relax and have fun and she might help out with tech things. Most of the people she knew back home were men so she'd like to meet more women/others here.

Anything else: Definitely not a serial killer. Julieta is normal. She behaves as normal people do.

Brief Rundown: The animator, MV editor and one of the vocalists for the underground music circle Nightcord at 25:00, under the pseudonym "Amia". Mizuki's obsessed with all things cute and loves to mess with people to get a reaction out of them. Surprisingly mature, despite their usual childish behavior. Kind of an otaku, way into idol groups, late night anime, mecha and Sentai shows. Rarely goes to school due to rumors and harassment, only showing up often enough to avoid having to repeat the grade.

Cute nerdy trans gremlin, basically.

Initial Ideas: Settling in and getting a good feel for the factions and the like. Trying to acclimate to their place in the Tamamo Clan. I haven't looked at the substories too thoroughly yet, but I'm excited to jump in!
