Want to jump right in? This month's Substories are posted here!. As for what's been going on...

Just like the TDM set up, Jigokucho is in recovery mode after the dissipation of a curse that befell the city. It was a full-on horror apocalypse.

The curse is gone, there are rumors stirring that the turf war has ended, and the Kappa are all going back down to work on building… something. It’s all pretty hush-hush, but anyone that’s not in the Department can ask freely about it. The Enma has bigger things to be concerned with already anyway (namely the newly named cause of the curse: Haniyasu).

So what does that mean for the next two months? Well, between whatever it is being cooked up in the Underground and everything else, the theme of these two months is Tanabata! How that celebration takes shape in a place like Jigokucho will be revealed as the month goes on, so stay tuned to find out more!

long-slain infamous demon from the heian era, shuten is a hedonistic oni who once terrorized the ancient capital of kyoto with her oni gang, known for kidnapping young girls, eating them and getting beheaded for it. she's a menace who loves to drink, party, fight and indulge in beautiful girls and handsome men. that said, she's also mysterious and elegant, and maybe she secretly kind of wants to be closer to humans even if she jokes about eating them all the time? :) it's complicated.

Initial Ideas:

• substory #1: SHUTEN ON EMBER 2.0.

• substory #3: definitely interested in tossing the watch in around general interactions. would be perfect for kickstarting new CR with a bit more added chaos. lets write silly and/or horrendous npc interactions together

• substory #4: fighting, fucking/flirting, and drinking are all things she loves in abundance, if anyone is down to clown with an awful oni in the pretty stardust

• given the nature of the game, i'm very interested in writing more violence-heavy threads with shuten being the one to dole it out (whether on npcs or other pcs), so! if you're up for that in any avenue hmu

CR Desires:

always down for intraclan and interclan cr! please keep in mind that unless your chara is the type to shrug off teasing and half-flirting threats of violence, shuten is generally pretty antagonizing, so cr with her will most likely lean negative before it becomes positive. THAT SAID, i'm interested in all types, including:

1) protags. she's attracted to gold hearted fools who lead interesting lives. 2) folks with connections to demons, oni, youkai, etc! she especially loves to tease and fight demon slayers. 👀 3) drinking buddies, villain buddies, etc. 4) people to frighten or otherwise bully. ♥ 5) she's just all around attracted to pretty people with pretty possessions, especially if they're spirited. she doesn't care if the interaction is positive or negative.

harry fits into the protag spectrum and could be a bully-able drinking buddy!! since they are in the same clan we can handwave them knowing basic things about each other/already being introduced and hit it off from there, or start clean?

i'm totally down for them knowing a few things about each other! shuten has been sticking to "assassin" when introducing herself to people who don't already know her (it's def not air-tight tho thanks ibaraki!!) and has generally been majorly slacking off and being a lazy clanmate

and she loves to drink -- REALLY loves to drink, maybe harry could approach her based off that rumor and they could go to town? mmmaybe throw in some stardust stuff for an in-person thread or they could start on ember? lmk what you think!

as a (questionable) angel who (is supposed to) kill demons, and yells about it a lot, I feel like things would be interesting!! he gets riled up easily. I think the hardest part would be to get them to do something together with shealtiel so angy about demons in general, but honestly doing substories/any work that would be relevant for his own faction would make him do his best...!

of course, I would also love for them to fight. he's a great fighter, but he struggles with his identity of being probably-half-demon and not wanting to admit it, and he hasn't been able to bring himself to kill a demon yet... also I'm sure she'd destroy him anyway, but you know, that's fine. he's a little more durable than a human.

omf shuten makes it her life mission to bully soft-hearted half-demons, and if shealtiel gets riled up easily all the better!

i'm super about going down this road with them. depending on how you want shuten to get under his skin, she could perhaps sense that half-demonic bit about him and bring it up? if not we can wait for that info to drop later on!

ALSO shuten is actually super nerfed atm so shealtiel get your kicks in now while u can...!! and yes, having to get along and complete missions with all that negativity between them would be so good

omg that would be great! my only warning is if it gets brought up, it will most likely trigger his past trauma (cw of child abuse included) so as long as you're okay with that coming up in brackets and the like! in action it goes from "IM AN ANGEL IM AN ANGEL IM AN ANGEL IMNOTADEMON x483294" to a literal murder switch but that's part of the fun, right??? surely.
