Just like the TDM set up, Jigokucho is in recovery mode after the dissipation of a curse that befell the city. It was a full-on horror apocalypse.

The curse is gone, there are rumors stirring that the turf war has ended, and the Kappa are all going back down to work on building… something. It’s all pretty hush-hush, but anyone that’s not in the Department can ask freely about it. The Enma has bigger things to be concerned with already anyway (namely the newly named cause of the curse: Haniyasu).

So what does that mean for the next two months? Well, between whatever it is being cooked up in the Underground and everything else, the theme of these two months is Tanabata! How that celebration takes shape in a place like Jigokucho will be revealed as the month goes on, so stay tuned to find out more!

** NOTE: Kazuma is basically a walking spoiler for both TGAA games, especially at the canon point I've taken him from. It is very unlikely I will be able to completely avoid spoilers when threading with him, so please keep this in mind and tag me only if you have already played the games or don't mind spoilers. Tell us about yourself: Let's see! I love boomeranging but this can be hard to arrange because I work night shift and have a bit of a wacky schedule. I am also happy to backtag but I can be a bit slow with it just due to attention span problems lol. Anybody up for threading at 3am EST, I will be your new best friend.

Character Name: Kazuma Asogi
Canon: The Great Ace Attorney
Character Age: 23
Faction: Shuten Clan
Brief Rundown: Kazuma at one point was an up-and-coming young firebrand lawyer with revolutionary ideals and an all-important mission... and then he got bonked on the head and developed complete amnesia, so now he's just as confused what's up with him as anyone else. The basics: good at law and also swords. A bit cagey. Kind of a bitch. Cares a lot about justice and is overall a nice guy but has a very 0 to 100 kind of intensity and WILL pick fights with people whether or not it is actually a good idea. He's going to have a GREAT time in Shuten.

Initial Ideas: Kazuma is going to have his hands full just trying to navigate this place while not remembering anything about himself, so I am very much in a let's-see-what-sticks kind of mode for the first bit. He'll probably at least be temporarily staying with Mikotoba to start but for Various Reasons it is uncertain how long that will last, especially if he ends up getting pretty involved with Shuten business (which is a path I'm very interested in exploring). Would love for him to get a steady job to start with! He was apparently able to pick up sailing pretty quickly, so...

CR Desires: Obligatory any, but in particular... the main reason I took Kazuma from the canon point that I did is because I want to see if I can push him a little farther into edgelord status indulging his violent side rather than just skirting it like he does in canon, so any CR that is able to help facilitate that development would be THE BEST. Negative influences please line up!! Other than that, Kazuma is pretty close to a blank slate right now, and I am just excited to see where Jigoku-cho ends up nudging him!

this is less of a bad influence directly (well tama is a bad influence when it comes to handling mental health, anger, and compartmentalizing, if you want that) but more of a "both of his boyfriends are in shuten, and also the three of them are in the 1920's club and thus reaching out to the 1900's DGS/TGAA cast"...thing. he's a writer who flunked getting in to the medical program at the Imperial university, And the letters/writing program because tests bore him, and hes squawky and neurotically anxious...have fun feeling uncertain feelings and all that, kazuma.

i mean until tama says something incredibly stupid like. try hitting your head again and see if that helps any. then any trace similarities fade like mist

This sounds like a recipe for a MESS which I am all about. I feel like Kazuma would naturally gravitate toward that group anyway if the overlap is that strong so I would love to help facilitate the TGAA/Hashihime cast singularity. I will definitely keep an eye out for y'all in whatever the upcoming event is unless you have something I can throw Kazuma at now 👀

sadly im in tag limbo rn until the mingle because i gotta see how involved it is to gauge when im putting up tama's cafe-slash-substories log, but by the power of kawase and minakami we'll get there someday, somehow!!

same shit different decade. not that kazuma would remember the assassin exchange program obviously, but i'm sure he's still got the MAN FUCK THIS in his burning soul nonetheless

very sidenote also: van and plus, the minakami and kawase respectively from the hashi cast, played DGS with me via the fan translation, then waited a year and then more time when the official translation was released. i knew 85% of the game spoilers the whole time as i was acting as the guide for them to go through it. and that was the longest year and a half of my life. them being sad about kazuma in chat and me going Y...YEP and slowly slumping further and further down in to the floor. i tell this story to every DGS player but its vital to how much i love this game. every time they asked me about the apprentice/apurrentice thing, me just sweating bullets. shu takumi i adore you, you made my life hell for nearly two years and i bought the game twice because of it.

I cannot in good conscience say Miss Haru here will be a negative influence, but she is also in Shuten as a newbie and I am fully spoiled for both TGAA games and Kazuma is my fave so I am here to slam into him regardless!

From what I know of Haru I feel like she and Kazuma would get along REALLY well (or maybe that is just me wanting to stick Kazuma to as many spunky teen girls as possible) so this sounds very cute and I'm all for it. Does Haru know how to non-Persona fight... does she maybe want to learn to swordfight...............

I will not lie, when I saw your Kazuma reserve/tdm my first thought was "enma!Apprentice?" but shuten!Kazuma with his massive chip on his shoulder issues is Perfect, Ideal, 10/10.

ok so. There was that tdm thread with Minato but the full deal with him is: Self-deprecatingly mild-mannered and helpful lit student from 1922, actually extremely cagey and habitually lies by omission and ties himself into self-loathing knots and Also Good At Swords. (Also timetravel and yokai possession and reincarnations but that's another can of worms...)

basically, this could go negative CR, because Kazuma is very similar to one of Minato's friends who's one of the few people that genuinely irritate him. at the same time there's a bizarre number of parallels between them (early 1900s Japanese students+swordsmen who hide vitally important information about their past from their best friends, so said friends can't dissuade them from their quests of self-destruction) that I just want to see what CR happens at all??

At bare minimum, if Kazuma does go apeshit in the long run, Minato would be horrified but also ineffectual at reigning him in, because... that also happened with the aformentioned friend. lmao.

Listen all the way up until writing the app I also thought Kazuma was a slam dunk for Enma and then I actually got to the suitability section and went wait..................... Shuten would be incredible actually. And the mods heard me I guess, mod bless!!!!

Also yes I am already into their weird little alliance, I do apologize for how slow I've been!! I would def love to continue it and work them toward having A Friendship, esp since my surface investigation into Hashihime suggests it would be the perfect cast to slot Kazuma into. And I do hope for Kazuma to go apeshit so it would make for some great payoff :) we're all about melodrama here

I also cannot promise that Skylark would necessarily be a bad influence, but he's also a Shuten newbie and I am very spoiled for both GAA games. If you want someone to watch Kazuma go from 0 to 100 and debate between whether it's okay to let it happen or maybe he should stop it except whoops, too late, I have one mild-mannered but also sassy boy here.
