Here's a centralized post for plotting out for the event!

Here's a breakdown summary of every prompt on the event;

Gambling Problem - The Shuten Clan is running an old-style den casino in Sai no Kawara with all kinds of games of chance to try your hand at. Shuten dealers have been trained to cheat on behalf of the house, of course.

Pleasure Palace - Tamamo has created a palace-like house of pleasure. It's essentially an extremely high end cabaret club and brothel, with both an indoor and outdoor stage for performances.

Gossip - With so many high profile clients in town for Tanabata, it's Sutoku's jobs to keep their ears open for all the hot goss they can. One thing in particular most characters will hear about is trouble in one of family of a particular finance wolf. His daughter wants to be a musician. He's trying to get her to come home. Drama ensues.

Tanabata - The usual Tanabata fun, though the Stardust-fueled magic creating the star show might make everyone feel more inclined to get in on the peace and love. What's more, the magic may impact the wishmaking itself! Take a chance, right?

"We Know Who You Are" - The infamous Iron Bear has made their presence felt. An attempted assassination is thwarted, but the finance wolf's daughter is kidnapped, and the Enma is here to make sure everyone starts talking about what they know. A tense ending to a party, but at least no one's in immediate danger. Right? Right?

Character Name: Jonathan Sims
Canon: The Magnus Archives
Faction: Enma
Brief Rundown: Jon is an academic researcher with a focus on the esoteric and supernatural who got in way over his head with cthulu-esque monstrosities in his world. On a surface level, he's skeptical and standoffish, not really interested in making himself known. However, he's deeply emotional and caring about those around him as well as humanity as a whole and will literally die for you without even knowing your name. Jon's also nosy as all hell and wants all the information he can about everything, even if it puts him in danger. He gets in over his head a lot, has seen a lot of horrible shit, and is just happy to be here even if he hates being tangled up with a police department.

Initial Ideas:

Overall: While Jon isn't Shuten, he's going to be wallflowering a bit and listening in to whatever sounds interesting. He'll be taking a few slow quiet drinks here and there throughout the night, making awkward small talk if anyone approaches him, but he'll enjoy the music.

Tanabata: While he definitely will say he doesn't believe in wishing since it's not something you can control yourself, he'll still be quietly slipping his own wish onto a limb. He might make some comments here or there disparaging it openly while quietly encouraging anyone who seems like they really need some hope in their life.

Kidnapping: Jon will be trying to follow the kidnappers until they get to the Wasteland. After that, he'll likely just sit in on some of the Enma interrogations and not participate, but still listen and note anything specific down that seems important.

Anything else: he's doing his best okay he's TRYING he even GOT GLASSES NOW

Hi... I desire Jon CR and Kazuma would also be interested in trying to follow the kidnappers (regardless of how successful such an endeavor is), perhaps they could team up or just run into each other in the attempt for meet cute purposes???

There is also the option of them meeting first at the gambling den for set up, since Kazuma will already be a little on the lookout for Sutoku eavesdroppers lol (and also looking for any excuse not to do his real job)

OH FOR REAL SAME HAT. Yeah, Jon has no intention of gambling but if that's where the whispers are happening he'll be in the room listening.

He's real bad at small talk but he can keep up with Kazuma throughout the night through to following to the Wasteland and back.

honestly I've been wanting to get cr between Jon and Minato for a hot minute, because I've been listening to the post-S5 Q&As I missed and random older episodes, and I remembered that baby Jon had his thing about reading compulsively but only one book per author >:O, while Minato just compulsively reads anything if it's one he hasn't read yet and hates not knowing how a story ends. similar yet distinct brainworms.

but also, he's not going to stop Eiichi punching him, but he is going to get Jon a beer afterwards. he's spent his half his life apologizing for Eiichi being Eiichi and even in Hell this won't stop.

It is such a weird distinct quirk that I'm going to use at some point in the future. Eventually I'll have him either transfer or just pick up a second job at the city library and that'll be fun.

BUT RIP... Sorry Minato, Jon does just bring it out of people. He's entering his petty era. I'd love to have that happen and the follow up with Minato!

Van Zieks is so glad for an Enma who is good at keeping notes and making sure everything is documented... I am not sure the conversation about that would make for a particularly long thread, but it could be a CR starter :?

It could definitely lead to some interesting CR! Jon has plenty of experience reading police reports and legal notes from his own investigations and research, so he'd fit right in working with Van Zieks.

How does he feel about snarky asshole commentary in the margins tho
