Just like the TDM set up, Jigokucho is in recovery mode after the dissipation of a curse that befell the city. It was a full-on horror apocalypse.

The curse is gone, there are rumors stirring that the turf war has ended, and the Kappa are all going back down to work on building… something. It’s all pretty hush-hush, but anyone that’s not in the Department can ask freely about it. The Enma has bigger things to be concerned with already anyway (namely the newly named cause of the curse: Haniyasu).

So what does that mean for the next two months? Well, between whatever it is being cooked up in the Underground and everything else, the theme of these two months is Tanabata! How that celebration takes shape in a place like Jigokucho will be revealed as the month goes on, so stay tuned to find out more!

more seriously, i do want an excuse to cr with ryouma...mostly cos he would be agonizingly sympathetic to his current ongoing plight, even if tama lacks the means to uh. help in any meaningful way. but hey!! its fine!! a cheerleader is worth their weight in salt probably, and he also thinks aizu is full of old stogey nonsense!!!! sorry to report the government kinda fucked it all up in his opinion!!!!!!!!!

also i have to check another thing because i remember in the novel the author wrote about the whole thing that started the whole like
ryouma being a guy famous enough that people knew who the fuck he was
and it was this big thing in the newspaper and i gotta see what year that is now because the news reports are very close to his fate/ description too lmao

honestly tama loves samurai stories so he might know simply from being a nerd. he loves stories about battles and stuff!! and scifi, and rebellion stories, and "modern" things about the rest of the world (france especially!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

but if a newspaper made sakamoto the talk of the town in the 20s then tama def would know even more cos he'd go full tilt research mode. maybe this is why he started reading philosophy books, ive solved it

also ironically tama recentlyish expressed some mild discomfort when he saw the check in sutoku post after the end of the bloodrain, and basically went `i have paranoia about this`. he's easy to disarm from those kinds of worries cos he has them so irrationally that he's used to going "ok no i was wrong they're chill"

SO WHAT HAD HAPPENED WAS that they said a guy dressed in white appeared to the Empress in her dreams during the beginning of the war with Russia and it was this big story printed in all the papers but that was ~1906 but it was such a sensationalised event that people talked about it for years up until the guy who claimed it was 100% real because the Empress told him so died in 1939 so the 20s were definitely in the midst of when all this was being talked about so.... this CR can be extra stupid now!!

oh god hello, I was meaning to comment into here anyway since I've been meaning to get ryouma cr for like, ever, but gaa pointed me here first.

IT'S WILD BC LIKE I'm always leery about leaning too far into what Minato's past lives would know of historical characters such as with fate/, given it's in-character for him to have lived humbly and out of the way (also I think it's funny when immortals or reincarnations live through important events and they're like "I was somewhere else"). But, given we've assumed his last life involved fighting in the Boshin War, then he'd definitely have been alive, if on the younger side, when Ryouma was at his most....... Ryouma. it's just a lot.

Regardless, the ensuing fervour around that ~vision~ is def something he'd know about even as a little kid: one of their friends was way into the military and Minato would've been obliged to read up what was available to him.

besides all this, if Mina learns about the gigantic debt he's going to feel really bad for Ryouma but there's not much he can do about it given. majima is kind of his boss. Sorry bud!! He can at least offer (extremely hypocritical) reminders not to overdo it and icarus himself!!
