July OOC Intro / CR meme!

Welcome Lost Souls! And also, welcome to this round's group of new players!
Want to jump right in? This month's Substories are posted here!. As for what's been going on...
Just like the TDM set up, Jigokucho is in recovery mode after the dissipation of a curse that befell the city. It was a full-on horror apocalypse.
The curse is gone, there are rumors stirring that the turf war has ended, and the Kappa are all going back down to work on building… something. It’s all pretty hush-hush, but anyone that’s not in the Department can ask freely about it. The Enma has bigger things to be concerned with already anyway (namely the newly named cause of the curse: Haniyasu).
So what does that mean for the next two months? Well, between whatever it is being cooked up in the Underground and everything else, the theme of these two months is Tanabata! How that celebration takes shape in a place like Jigokucho will be revealed as the month goes on, so stay tuned to find out more!

Contact: Discord (osoroshia#9810) preferred since it's checked more regularly, but plurk is
Pronouns: she/her
Tell us about yourself:
I'd actually been eyeing this game before launch, since I love youkai-- so much that if they play heavily into events, my otherwise empty plurk might start filling up with scribbles of them...
I'm in EST, but considering it's 1am right now, time isn't reliable. Between work, family stuff, dnd, and having fallen back into the hell that is Sims lately, I'm really on the slow side, but I'm hoping my writing pace will get a chance to pick back up soon.
Pretty obviously into JJK, with my other main fandoms being Zero Escape, Pokemon, and a bit of progress made into BNHA. Always up for chatting about any of those!
Character Name: Mahito
Canon: Jujutsu Kaisen
Character Age: roughly 5 months, but visually and mentally an adult.
Faction: Enma
Brief Rundown:
Super short version, a child shoved into the role of a leader over his willingness to sacrifice everything in order for his kind to no longer be killed just for who they are.
Accurate version, a cursed spirit, a physical manifestation of negative human emotions that kills just on instinct. In his own case, he's born of the fear and hate felt towards other humans, so holds a really strong obsession with them, both wanting to learn as much as he can about his "origin", and constantly feeling that same hatred of them that made him exist. Those combined into something along the lines of "why not kill every human but keep their society by taking their place", and there's your main villain for the first arc of the series.
A certain main character taught him fighting and killing can be extremely fun, so he's caused a ton of problems acting out on that discovery. Thanks, Itadori. That all said, he's not usually too combative. When it's not time to act, Mahito's fairly peaceful, and gets along decently with anyone willing to discuss philosophical topics, or help him understand the point of things he's read or watched. With non-humans, he won't harbour that base hatred at all, so even becoming close friends is possible. He just doesn't form attachments, meaning the real risk in hanging around him is never knowing when he might betray on a whim.
Initial Ideas: SO UH to start, I'm probably going to keep picking at TDM threads for a little longer and wait for the event post! This ties more into CR than plot ideas, but what I really want to do is use this short period where his cast is unaware of his arrival to get some "positive" CR going.
I'll aim to jump into the discord some time over the weekend, too!
CR Desires:
ToysFriends!Mahito's vulnerable without his full powers, and seeking safety isn't exclusively a thing good guys do. Though most of it will be through manipulation rather than genuine "bonding", I'd like him to get a few allies to start off. My dream CR is honestly to get him a decent enough relationship with someone that when they're inevitably warned about how dangerous he is, they think the person warning them is wrong.
Anyone willing to take advantage of how his inexperience leaves him impressionable would also be great. Please teach him stuff that's completely false, or find way to cause complete disaster.
Long term, though, I'll definitely be up for all the negative CR once I'm settled in!
Anything else: Permissions and Opt-Out over here!

I saw you on the TDM, but I was like a;dlsf I don't know what to tag in with but I suppose future things can be done if you're interested! In either case, welcome to the game, I hope you have a great time here Omega!

We need to plot.

if mahito meets yuuji in enma, and megumi finds out, he will unfortunately be coming after mahito
no subject
Gotta find him first haha-- wait the dog has his scentBut honestly I'm up for this! The encounter might not go well, but the main thing is the powerloss doesn't get in the way of Mahito doing what he does best-- running away. So both of them will probably be mostly fine...
The real tragedy is learning doggo isn't a friend.

i continue to offer this boy to you, as he is infatuated with another boy who doesn't deserve anything bad to happen to him here
also i just love mahito. idk.

Our guys are both in Enma so if you want them to meet lemme know!

Definitely up for them meeting, but would super appreciate if threads hold off on the specifics of just how/why that whole thing's going on for a bit, so there's still some mystery while I try clearing the game.

The thing with Junpei's name is true, now that you mention it. In Saito's case it's actually the opposite though, the spoilers aren't exactly in his name. His first name by itself is hardly a spoiler, his full name can be a bit spoilery if you're super attentive to the smallest details.
BUT yeah, gogo, finish it! I love the first AI to tiny bits, though I can't say the same for the sequel. Too many inconsistencies with the first game, and the plot felt all over the place. Kind of like the transition between VLR and ZTD.
Anyway, I don't think the subject of the twist will ever be brought up in tags unless it's with castmates, so it should be relatively safe on that front.

... But wow what even is time, I completely missed that it came out last month. Looking at a walkthrough I guess I'm actually fairly close to the end of the first game? Just got stuck trying to find one of the alternate routes because every time I load the level I immediately forget I'm not supposed to "win" it... I'll try using this weekend to get through.

Matoba here is also an exorcist (technically a haraiya but his canon also uses jujutsushi to talk about the general community they belong to so he gets the jujus, ANYWAY,) and also really, really hates youkai/nonhumans and is not afraid to say it to their faces. He's also taken Megumi somewhat under his wing within his clan as they have somewhat similar abilities. Matoba's from a shoujo canon though, so he mostly uses magic/longrange attacks and isn't a physical shonen-ass fighter LOL
I am mooostly canonblind to JJK but looking at your description here, Matoba is definitely the type to be blatant about the fact that he thinks something like Mahito should be exorcised or sealed, so I foresee some interesting friction if they cross paths!

I've watched, but haven't read, so from what little I've seen I think Mahito would recognize him less as the standard "exorcist" and more as a "curse user" since he's not completely against putting humans in harm's way. So straight up revealing he wants Mahito gone is an option, but tricking him to make some sort of use of him sure is, too.

(If you're mangablind to NatsuYuu btw, I can try to avoid manga-only spoilers if you'd like! Matoba is from the end of Chapter 104 and the anime stopped around the 70's, so a lot of what hasn't been adapted yet is exorcist-centric material haha.)
