Welcome Lost Souls! And also, welcome to this round's group of new players!
Want to jump right in? This month's Substories are posted here!. As for what's been going on...
Just like the TDM set up, Jigokucho is in recovery mode after the dissipation of a curse that befell the city. It was a full-on horror apocalypse.
The curse is gone, there are rumors stirring that the turf war has ended, and the Kappa are all going back down to work on building… something. It’s all pretty hush-hush, but anyone that’s not in the Department can ask freely about it. The Enma has bigger things to be concerned with already anyway (namely the newly named cause of the curse: Haniyasu).
So what does that mean for the next two months? Well, between whatever it is being cooked up in the Underground and everything else, the theme of these two months is Tanabata! How that celebration takes shape in a place like Jigokucho will be revealed as the month goes on, so stay tuned to find out more!

Tell us about yourself: hi everybody, i'm ally! i like video games, ttrpgs, tinkering with stuff, computers, programming... i'm working on getting my degree in mechatronics engineering and i'm working on my very first paid co-op placement this summer as a research assistant at an industrial iot lab! hoping to either continue in research or to get into automation engineering! i also like to knit, garden, work out, and i have a kitten named kikko who loves cucumbers and also to bite me. here is the bastard himself

Brief Rundown: there's a lot to say about mima! she is a bubbly, talented entertainer trying to pivot out of idol and into an acting career, and she is having a bad time about it. as a result of her graduation, mima begins to suffer stalking, harassment, and is coerced into sexual exploitation by her agent in order to alter her public image. all of this takes a very heavy toll on her mental health. as mima's canon and mima herself both deal directly with sexual assault, stalking, violence, and psychosis, i have made my permissions post double as an opt-out if you would like to either not play with her or not engage with these subjects! it's screened, but i can unscreen comments on request! please don't hesitate to use it!
Initial Ideas: i have taken her from a pretty pivotal point in the film, just after her assault by her stalker and before the final chase sequence of the film. given all that she's been through, mima will likely be a little bit shellshocked and may take a little longer getting her feet under her. thankfully, she doesn't even fully know how bad things really are, so it's not as bad as it could have been!
i am very excited to have her in tamamo! i think once she settles in, starting fresh with a group of people who very likely have no idea who she is will be really really good for her, and i think being encouraged to live and express her own identity genuinely, with nobody acting as an intermediary and manipulating the way in which she is presented, will also do wonders! i'm super excited to dig into that and see how she does!
CR Desires: i'm keeping my mind as open as it can be! i'm down for just about any cr i can find! mima isn't shown to have many close friends in the film, so i always love watching those kinds of relationships develop in threads with her! she'll make for a pretty pathetic enemy, but i will also eat up negative cr with a spoon!

aerith is also a tamamo and i would love for them to run into each other. aerith's been struggling with having her own autonomy in game and freedom, so i think they'd have that in common... i definitely could see them getting along, aerith's the kind of person to want to help someone settle in so!! ✨ glad to have you in game!!

im not Overly Familiar with ff but even i know mima and aerith would be adorable cr.....mima needs more friends in general but especially friends who arent shitty and wont talk about her behind her back, yes please, they can go out for girly drinks and karaoke. i love to play mima discovering genuine closeness and trust with other people.....commiserating over a lack of autonomy, tamamo neighbour stuff, and tbh she would be enchanted by the flowers too!! just all around potential, i already love them

Right now they’re unlikely acquaintances, and I think we can continue that dynamic with them possibly teaming up for one of the side stories. Or something more commonplace, like meeting each other again while enjoying the Tanabata festivities? Honestly, I think if Yang finds out she’s from modern day Japan, he’ll be probably asking her… a decent amount of questions about certain things.

you were on my list to hit up after their tdm thread, so i'm glad you beat me to the punch! i was sniffing around the substories and the watch one sounds like it could have some potential to be funny with the two of them teaming up on it. tanabata would also be cute though!
and thats okay, a mixture of mima still being kind of a clueless country mouse and also probably thinking this is just some weird dream means she'll likely answer those questions 100 percent earnestly and will not wonder why he's asking

i don't get rougher cr with her very often so i'm definitely interested!! people are usually way more inclined to be sweet and nice to her (which dont get me wrong i love, because my girl deserves everything good) so this would be refreshing to play with! it looks like the substories this month provide plenty of opportunity for mima to unintentionally chafe her, or we could organize something more general if youd like!
