Welcome Lost Souls! And also, welcome to this round's group of new players!

Firstly, the game officially opens (as in IC posting is allowed) on March 5th. What's on the plate for this month? Well there's the Substories for this month you can get started on, and the overall mood of the city is that everyone is preparing for this year's Night Parade, a major event meant to foster a unity within the community and promote (relative) peace between the various factions!

Unfortunately, tensions are very high with the new Lost Souls coming in, and while on the surface the Factions seem to be working together to make the parade success, internally each of them believes the other is plotting for a power grab at the event.

What's gonna happen? Stay tuned and find out...

I didn't plan this far ahead.

I'm Eski. My main fandoms are Fire Emblem and Touken Ranbu but I also dabble in Genshin, Fate/, and misc. webtoons. I live in Japan so my tagging times can be! Really! Whack! But I try to tag when I can. Right now, it's the last month of school here so I'm a liiiiiittle all over the place but my spring break is coming up... I'll be at full power again soon. I commit sleep crimes on weekends which explains why I'm typing this at 4AM.

Character Name: Hizen Tadahiro
Canon: Touken Ranbu
Faction: Shuten Clan
Brief Rundown:

Hizen "Prickly" Tadahiro is a tsukumogami, the spirit of a sword... and not just any sword but the sword of one of Japan's most infamous assassins. He owns the fact that he's the sword of a killer and while he's not proud of it, he thinks that's all he has going for him. Hizen is described as "prickly." He's blunt, direct, has little patience for other people, and is rough around the edges. Sprinkle in a bit of "hollowness" and low self-esteem and you got Hizen in a bitter nutshell.

He actually does have good points like being a hard worker and seeing things through to the end once he starts them. He's also not afraid to do dirty work if some people are too soft. He has a good heart under everything, sympathizes with the poor and disadvantaged, and he's actually very accepting of most people as long as you don't make him Work Harder™. Something that comes up a lot with Hizen a lot is that if things had been different, Hizen would have been a sword for the people instead of a sword that cut people. It's a sore subject for him.

TL;DR, he's a feral stray that needs to be won over with food and snacks before he let's anyone give him a bath and a home.

Initial Ideas:

❀ First, if anyone wants to keep TDM threads canon, let me know! I know a lot of us were being vague about factions so if you want to retcon anything, I'm here. Let's talk.
❀ Hizen is a spirit based in Japanese folklore and is, therefore... kind of familiar with Japanese folklore! He's not an expert, he doesn't really care about details, but he'll definitely know some popular stories here and some regionally specific ones from his hometown of Tosa.
❀ Pspspspsps feed him, please
❀ Make him your drinking buddy. He's a spirit but his physical form is essentially human now and he has to deal with a lower tolerance. His previous tolerance was one of the few good things he had going for him and he's lost it. He still likes drinking! But not like he used to, dang.
❀ Considering it's his true form, he's always going to have his sword with him! Feel free to comment on that. Feel free to sense the sword is special too? IDK, it probably feels the same as Hizen-the-person or something. Canon is vague sometimes.

• Look at This Sweet Jacket. Hizen can side with either party here! It depends on the narrative. His first reaction would be to find some other damned bridge! Why does it have to be this bridge! God damn! On the other hand, he could also think the Hashihime is being petty or wasting her time with this dumbo. Throw the guy over the bridge? Throw the guy across the bridge? Fight the bridge? Let's figure things out.


• Welcome to the Night Parade. Fun fact! Hizen's a hecking overworked government employee in canon. He gets the importance of bureaucracy, tradition, and making sure things go smoothly. He can do dumb errands, help break up fights, and whatever you really need him to do. He might be extra interested in any potential food stalls that might be setting up for the parade though. He's always hungry.


• High Definition. I'm interested but Hizen would need some coaxing. He hates being poor and while he might not be the smartest sword boy, he's still pretty sharp (hah) and isn't going to just take random drugs easily. Look at me, here in my room, thinking of ways to get Hizen to do the thing.

UR GOOD. Let them meet. I know Ryouma hides his Tosa accent and Hizen doesn't have a particularly strong one so I wonder how their first meeting will go. Honestly, I'm just Tosa scum so let's have fun.

Hahaha, I also play Ryouma's sword boy but Hizen vibes better with the game setting. Let Mutsu run around and see a better world.

If you want to get into swords for Tosans, Ryouma's sword features heavily in the slice of life anime (Hanamaru) and the action one (Katsugeki). He is truly perfect in every version of canon. His Ryoma arc in Katsugeki is especially /chef's kiss. He's also going to feature in the new manga that *just started* last month. We don't know the plot yet but it has something to do with Tamamonomae??? Meanwhile Hizen is one of the newer sword boys... but they literally announced yesterday he's going to show up in one of the upcoming movies tho which will be Tosa-centric. Sword hell has been feeding me recently.

BUT YEAH ANYWAY, Hizen's got some complicated feelings about his past and Tosa in general but he ultimately still loves the people in his life and Tosa. That's his home... this is his gumi... He's the only one allowed to yell at them.
