Moon Medicine On May 16th the gyokuto returns for the moon viewing. This time she is testing medicinal mochi! It goes about as terribly as one might expect, given her proclivities. Some mochi makes you feel warm, too warm. So much so that you have the urge to do anything you can to cool off, including removing your clothes. Some mochi hits you with a chill so deep it can only be relieved by the warmth of another body, compelling you to shove yourself right against the nearest person regardless of who it is. Some mochi is the sort that gives you the kind of energy only promised by shady truck stop energy drinks. You have a desire to use that energy to either Fight or Fuck, whichever is more convenient. Just what sort of conditions are these "medicines" meant to treat?! art by FireBay	Vend Me A Dream A local shirime wants a particular item from a particular vending machine. Which one, you might ask? Who knows! The only thing that the shirime will tell you is the button combination: A5. A nosy kejourou can be bribed to tell you which machine, but first you have to provide them a photograph of a certain popular host from one of the clubs. To obtain this picture, you must first bring food from a preferred street vendor to one of the hitobashira who live under the bridge. This vendor will normally only take payments in barter or trade... This continues throughout the city, a seemingly endless chain of trades and barters, until you finally encounter someone with an easy request to move forward with. Then, at last, you might find out which vending machine you need. Turns out, it's one that vends porno magazines in a backlot. The item in question is a rare printing of a magazine called “Juicy Peaches”. You can probably figure out the content based on the name alone – no wonder that spicy shirime wanted it!

Swipe Left A mysterious new app has appeared on the network. It appears, ostensibly, to be a social app. Wonder what that could be? This is a Player Submitted Substory/Plot by Pine, player of Ydris. They have a post right here that explains what's going on here, so please glance over there! All threads conducted on this topic count as Substory threads.	Haniwhat? (plot-relevant) Since the Daitengu's funeral, something strange has been popping up around the city. Clay Haniwa figurines have been seen in random places throughout the city; out in a public thoroughfare, randomly on the tables at various businesses, some of them have even appeared in your apartment unbidden. The Department of the Enma has requested that these figurines be brought to the Department. They will be collected for evidence on whatever mischief is going on. The spiritually sensitive will definitely get some strange vibes from these figurines. You have the distinct feeling they should probably be left alone...

2) this is just a crazy idea. but is it possible to work with the gyokuto? aerith is 100% willing to employ a bunny costume to keep the theme going, if that helps. her interest is the same as emily's, mainly, but she's willing to resort to just taking extra mochi if raw material isn't possible. lmfao

1) This will not bode well for anyone that does it, as the Haniwa's cursed spiritual power will seep into the person they are nearby, infecting their nightmares and, with enough exposure, even give them hallucinations of seeing Haniwa faces where normal faces should be.

2) Well the Moon Viewing is a busy time for mochi sellers in general, so she'd actually appreciate the help, though she won't be able to pay Aerith much (though she will get her fill of mochi, if she likes). The bunny costume will be appreciated, and she thanks Aerith for her respect (somehow). She is not willing to part with her ingredients, however, saying the work it takes to gather them is far more than simply helping out at a mochi stand

1) OHH I LOVE THIS... is it possible to try communication with them? aerith would ask around town for any tips. she wants to know if theres spirits inside that she can try to use pray on to help!

So Aerith's power would clue her in that, rather than specific spirits inhabiting the haniwa, they seem to all be vessels of spiritual energy from one specific source, a singular entity most likely.

Right now, with the Haniwa flooding the city, there's too much of it to track BUT it will become possible later!

actually ... are there any identifying marks on the figurines or anything interesting about the clay in general? sorry for the amount of questions lmao i keep rotating the new lil cursed buddies in my mind. 😞 aerith would be interested in trying to collect info about them from civilians. thank you guys again for your patience! and speediness. phew

Most civilians will refuse to touch the stuff, just telling her to shovel them off to the Department and let THEM deal with it, but...

If Aerith takes one to Mizukume and has one of the Tamamo Clan's onmyouji take a look at it, they can tell her some interesting things! Namely, the clay had to have come from the outer wastelands, as there's nothing like this in the city. What's more, the cursed energy doesn't seem to be an accident, but rather something done deliberately, sealed to the clay and able to be released like a trap when the clay is shattered.

we can't expect the enma to do all the work

that's great, thank you guys! would the onmyouji be able to explain what happens when shattering occurs... or have any idea on how to help seal the bad vibes if it does shatter? is it completely hopeless from their pov, or? do they have any idea of a possible connection to the wasteland that might have it out for jigokucho as a whole?

i swear i'll wrap it up quickly, sorry! but since aerith's an empath, she'd be interested in trying to know the why behind the curse. is it possible to sense any emotion behind it beyond just the bad vibes? 🤔 it seems like someone is targeting jigokucho in general now, from her pov.

They'll explain that the energy placed in the figurine will basically lash out and latch onto the nearest living thing when it's unbound from the clay (via the clay shattering). It seems this is mostly a consequence of the vessel being a Haniwa figurine, given they're hollow.

Unfortunately, they think only Tenko-hime has the ability to fully stop one of these curse bombs if it goes off in her face, anyone else would just be too close and too "weak" to resist it.

As for determining a motive behind the thing, right now, that's anyone's guess. The cursed energy is too volatile to draw any real intentions from it, but they imagine whoever is able to generate this level of cursed spiritual energy has to be especially powerful and especially... upset. Anger, resentment, hatred, sadness, it's hard to say. But they're having a bad time, for sure.

Tenkohime would say to go ahead and let the Enma gather up all these little curse bombs. She has a feeling they're up to something, so they'd better watch carefully what's going to happen from here on.

One of the onmyouji might bring up that they could use these in the turf war, but Tenkohime firmly shuts that down, saying it's way way too dangerous to mess with stuff like this in a closed off area like that.

Basically, she wants them out of Mizukume, but she also doesn't trust the Enma's angle on this either. She thinks something's up.
