Welcome Lost Souls! And also, welcome to this round's group of new players!

What's on the plate for this month? Well there's the Substories for this month you can get started on. Generally, the city is still recovering from the disastrous ending of the Night Parade last month. Clean up has been going well, but unfortunately the ongoing turf war over The Underground between the Tamamo and Shuten clans has kept tensions from winding down. On top of that, the Daitengu crashed their own funeral and implicated the Enma as being responsible, in some way, for the incident as well as their "assassination". Things are pretty chaotic!

And what's with this sudden infection of mysterious Haniwa figurines happening now? One can't help but wonder if this isn't coincidence...

What's gonna happen? Stay tuned and find out...

Tell us about yourself: Hello everyone, Fey here! I generally tag evenings/nights (PST) and I have a wonky sleeping schedule, so don't mind those timestamps. I'm a great lover of all sorts of media. Musical theatre, anime, western animation, live action film & tv and video games are all my jam. In non-fandom hobbies, I'm an avid cook/baker and I knit very, very slowly. Nice to meet you all.

Faction: Sutoku Alliance
Brief Rundown: Kim Kitsuragi is a 43-year old police detective who invests a great deal in maintaining his image as an aggressively ordinary and professional man. He has no special powers or secret identities to maintain! He's just Like That -- so tightly wound it's a miracle he hasn't snapped yet, keeping every aspect of his life regimented and controlled and uncomfortable with blatant showings of emotion. It's a lonely way to live.

Underneath it all is a person who would secretly like to go just a little batshit, as a treat. He has a seemingly infinite well of patience, a cool head, a tendency to write everything down, an incredibly dry sense of humour, a protective streak and a tendency to lecture that he's actively trying to curb. He's wildly passionate about his secret hobbies (cars, loud terrible music, big machines that make big noises, board games, going really, really fast) and has a poorly concealed competitive streak. He's also just kind of a weirdo! His permissions post has a little more detail about his appearance & demeanor, so check that out if you'd like to know more.

Initial Ideas: First off, I plan on making an open log soon! I'll have some open prompts to see what tickles people's fancy, ofc, but if you have something you'd like to play out, I'd be happy to make up a custom starter! For this month, the substories he'll be participating in Vend Me A Dream if you have any silly fetch quests to send our characters on and Haniwhat? in which he's going to be seriously discomfited by these little guys. Otherwise, some of Kim's priorities are to:
- Continue getting himself well-situated in this new world and get a proper adult apartment set-up (he can help others do so as well!)
- Check out some of the tech available (are those racing games??)
- Truly be in hell as he works at 7-11 and sees all of your characters' nighttime purchases
- Begin percolating the idea of going to work for a tailor instead (maybe he can help tailor some of your characters' clothes to get the idea!)
- Try to talk more to the yokai of his community and get a feel for how they feel about life and leadership here
- Maybe hit up a gay bar? He wants to see what the Homosexual Underground looks like here!
- He's too private to have this show up much, but as a background theme, I'm having him internally grapple from being born and raised in the diaspora to suddenly being thrust into fantasy hell Asia (he feels real weird about it)

CR Desires: TBH I'm up for anything! Some ideas would be to get some more friends his own age that he can gripe to as equals and co-workers, CR with younger characters for that protective instinct in him despite his aversion to teens, Sutoku neighbours, more people interested in digging into the community of the city, people able to worm some of his deeply held secrets (like liking very trashy music) out of him... and whatever else you can think of!

Not at all!! It came to a pretty logical end anyhow -- we can just say that they made their way home and Junpei sullenly squirreled away to his own lodgings hahah. I'd love to do more with Junpei, though! I have an open log up now for substories 2 & 4, but if you have anything else in mind, I'd be happy to set something up.

Whispers... I really enjoyed our thread at the Night Parade and I'm super looking forward to more Kim threads.

Hizen is going to super want to repay Kim for helping him out when he was in a bad spot. Kim is also just so normal, Hizen is relieved? He's an acceptable human. I'll keep an eye out for your log!!

Yes, I'd love to do more with Ryouma too! He seems like a really fun character -- gotta love the ones in possession of brain cells. I have an open log up if any of the prompts catch your fancy, but I'd be happy to tag into anything of yours/plot something else if you've got anything in mind!

Also down for more adventures... always greedy for more Matoba threads! I've got him dealing with 2 & 4 this month, so 2 would probably fit the bill.

I actually ended up mentioning a tailor in my CR wishes for this month, since Emily's a little disappointed that anything she gets, she has to modify for wings - it could come up in passing, or they could meet out and about and she laments the problem. Honestly, I'm just interested to see where they go as fellow Sutoku and tired adults dealing with shenanigans!

That sounds like it would be a great segue to ease Kim into considering the tailoring job! That, and it would just be cute... Emily deserves someone else to at least help her modify her existing wardrobe. I'd be down for her mentioning it as they meet in passing and they could go to find a sewing machine and Kim could help alter some of her wardrobe? It would also be a good way for him to not feel rude asking what the whole wing thing is about too! I've got an open log up if you'd like to use it, but I'm happy to toss up a custom starter or tag into something of yours too.

i've not had time to sink my teeth in to elysium despite wanting to very very badly, but nothing would give me as much joy as one of the people in tama's inevitable sutoku lodgings fully clocking immediately that hes smuggled someone from another faction in to literally live in his closet. tama is 21 but he acts like a teen, sorry kim.

also tama would absolutely love trashy music especially given hes used to 1920s jazz, so they can potentially concrit bands when tama inevitably can't figure out how to turn down his stereo. i'm sorry minakami

Anyway, that sounds very funny and very cute tbh. Kim would absolutely clock it right away -- maybe he can call Tama out on it while they stumble across each other outside their housing? He wouldn't feel inclined to report it, but he might lecture him on at least trying to be more subtle about it!

Yes, I'd love that too! I'd like to work towards the goal of having them be able to actually chat a little more socially, though they are a couple of big old weirdos. For some ideas, maybe Kimmuriel can frequently have to do ubereats (jigokucho style) at the 7-11 Kim works at and they can bitch about their jobs? Though honestly, if it comes up, they could just meet outside their housing and it would be very easy for it to come up in conversation to bitch about how everyone here seems to be 18 years old hahah.

I've been really enjoying our thread (despite my glacial tagging pace, I am so sorry) and would love to do more! Hazel's not usually quiiite as easygoing without the Night Parade influence so that should be fun.

The ridiculous part of me sees the 'help tailor your character's clothes' bit you've listed and immediately connected it to the fact Hazel's going to be coping with the inescapability of the haniwa by decorating the damn things in little outfits, but I also understand if 'gets roped into making doll clothes for hell statues' is a little too stupid rofl.

Less outrageous options are incurring mega judgement for being That Person who combines every single slurpee flavor into a single cup or discovering that they're both competitive fuckheads when it comes to games via fetch quest hell. I've got options, haha.

No worries on the pacing -- I've been really enjoying it too! Hazel's a cutie. I wish that Kim would help with making little outfits, but he's thoroughly spooked by the haniwa and thinks that would be inviting trouble. I've got an open log up if any of the prompts catch your fancy (including a 7-11 prompt and a fetch quest prompt!) but I'm down for anything -- and if it's stupid competitive you're looking for and Hazel would be inclined, we could always rope them into getting unexpectedly invested at one of Sutoku's arcades!

Visiting the homosexual underground caught my eye... Majima has a drag persona/drag hostess called "Goromi". If that's of interest, I was thinking like an entirely just friendly talking at the bar kind of thing.

Yes, I'm totally interested! I think Kim would be delighted to have a chat with drag performer/hostess. I've gone ahead and popped up an open log with a gay bar as a prompt, but if you'd like a custom one for a place Majima frequents, I'd be happy to set one up!

Hello, I imagine Kim doesn't need more mentally ill men to babysit since Harry is here, but I personally love Kim and want to bother him, and Fukuda will think he's very cool because he's a detective.

Also he could probably genuinely use his detective expertise since he was sorted into Enma and is definitely not a cop.

Aw, Robin! TBH he endeared himself to Kim too -- what a good boy. And I've really enjoyed our thread and would love to do something more! I've got an open log for this month up if any of those tickle your fancy, but if you have anything up as well/any ideas for later, I'd love to hear them.
