Strongly agree with this, opening up missions in advance- even if you obscure the details- and making the selection process for them a little more open would probably do a lot to make people feel better.

Something as simple as "Blind recruiting for missions" OOC that would be translated to being chosen IC, and then you could just set requirements beyond that as needed.

It would prevent the feeling of being arbitrary or inaccessible, if nothing else.
